THERE’S A LOT OF GRIFFINS OUT THERE…

ThatOneGriff is an online personality for entertainment and gaming content. Through an expedition of multiple names, I decided on the final branding about THREE years ago (2021). It is a hobby I will continue to do to practice new graphic design styles and SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT. here’s the history and development of a brand made by a kid who now grown up, is still a kid at heart!

Before 2019

During this age of ThatOneGriff, I was known as “CRL_Griff.” It was my original online alias from when I was 13 years old! I kept it for a while until I got wise and decided to update my branding. Which had remained a work in progress. It was inspired by the latest eSports teams and their logos. Looking back I realize my liking of using positive and negative space in my logo work.

Other Designs

Not every design is perfect, for there are always numerous drafts that one must sift through before arriving at the flawless iteration of their logo. Each attempt brings valuable insights and improvements, ultimately leading to the ideal expression of their brand identity.

2019

During this age of ThatOneGriff, I was known as “vGriff.” My reasoning at the time for this name change was for the sake of a simple name and trying to get to the name “Griff.” The name had been taken on every platform. So, “vGriff” remained the closest to it. I decided to keep the name clean in the branding. Also being a high-school student at the time I was excited to hit affiliate on Twitch. This allowed options for ‘Subscribers’ which was a paid membership to my channel that offered a plethora of benefits like ad-free viewing, and custom emotes or emojis to use across all of Twitch!

2021

This is it! This was the year I landed on the golden name of ThatOneGriff! It has stuck ever since and I even made a whole branding guideline that has helped theme my work across all platforms. It has become autonomous at this point which helps when I suffer from any creative block. This acts as a current in my stream. So, even though I don’t know where I want to land it guides me slowly!

Other Versions

I learned that versatility is a huge skill and compliment for whatever company I work for or with. That’s why this latest brand has so many different versions of itself! More so for the use of print and web.

2023-Present

The same branding, but polishing it up. A unified profile was made with a portrait to make it feel more personal! I use my face in all my content, so I may as well make the connection for newcomers to find my stuff easier. During this time I made the brand guidelines which help keep all work for ThatOneGriff within real of each other. Inheriting the ability to recognize what exactly a ThatOneGriff post looks like was my goal and I think I have done that to a great standard! At the beginning of 2024, I focused on social media management by making daily short-form videos for YouTube, Instagram/Facebook, & TikTok. I cataloged every video on the chance that I needed to reference something from it was easy to find. On top of that, it helped me plan my scheduling together since I had fallen out of sync on some platforms due to upload errors. Now every short-form video is uploaded in sync and scheduled so returning viewers and algorithms know when to find my content!
